The pick acquired by the Cavs will come from the Los Angeles Lakers, who sent the second-rounder to Indiana in a swap for Roy Hibbert earlier this offseason.
Christmas, a 6-foot-9 forward, was the 36th pick in June's 2015 NBA Draft. He appeared in four of the Cavs' five summer-
league games, averaging 8.0 points on 33 percent shooting
to go with 4.5 rebounds in 20.9 minutes per game.
During his four-year college career at Syracuse, Christmas averaged 7.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.7 blocks. A defensive-minded big man, Christmas shared ACC Defensive Player of the Year honors during his final collegiate season.
"We really liked Rakeem when he came in for predraft workouts," said Pacers President of Basketball Operations Larry Bird in a statement released by the team. "He is a solid player who was a contributor all four years at Syracuse and we look forward to having him on our team."
According to Northeast Ohio Media Group's Chris Haynes, the Pacers and Christmas have agreed on a four-year, $4.5 million deal, with the first two years guaranteed.
Until last month, the Cavs didn't own any second-round picks until 2020 but now have acquired two 2019 picks this off-season, which can be used as trade assets.
