Zoran Dragic has been traded to the Boston Celtics, according to ESPN.
ESPN also reports the Heat have attached a second-round pick with Dragic and will receive a “heavily-protected” future second-rounder. Many assumed Zoran was a lock for a roster spot because his brother, Goran, is the Heat’s starting point guard. However, Goran is apparently “fine with it” because Zoran desires playing time.
This comes a day after the team shipped Shabazz Napier to Orlando for what likely will amount to nothing in return. Zoran Dragic played sparingly last season, appearing in 16 games while averaging 4.7 minutes.
The team likely is not finished cutting salary, with multiple outlets reporting they’re trying hard to trade Mario Chalmers and his $4.3 million salary.
The Miami Heat’s roster essentially stands at 16 when factoring in rookie second-round pick Josh Richardson, one more than the maximum allowed for the regular season.
